Message from the E-Board

“Knowledge is power.  Information is liberating.  Education is the premise of progress, in every society, in every family.” -Kofi Annan

Brothers and Sisters,

MCOFU’s primary focus and purpose is to improve the working conditions and benefits of our membership.  This Executive Board is dedicated to providing you, our brother and sister officers with the most effective leadership you so rightfully deserve.  Each and every one of us on this board are very conscious of the confidence you have placed in us to adjust the sails of this union, and advance the goals and objectives of this organization.  We are determined to make good on the faith you have placed in us in making this membership as organized, educated, and informed as possible.

Your Executive Board is confident that with our strong administrative and legislative agenda, we will make you proud.  Your Executive Board is up to the challenge.  We also challenge you, each individual member, to help take responsibility in unifying and moving MCOFU forward in a positive direction.  Stay informed, familiarize yourselves with your local Stewards, become active and engaged, and above all else, stay safe and keep each other safe.

In Solidarity,

Your MCOFU Executive Board

Dear Brothers and Sisters, MCOFU is running a radio advertisement this week on 98.5 FM, 680 AM and 104.5 FM to ensure that we all vote for legislators that have our back with the pending Police Reform Bill currently in conference committee.

I am writing to you on behalf of our school, the Luther Burbank Middle School, in Lancaster, MA. We would like to share a bit of positivity and a whole lot of thanks from our Community to the officers and healthcare providers in the correctional system. Each Thursday, our school celebrates Positive Sign Thursday. We have a different positive message each week that is posted on a sign. We take pictures of students and staff with the sign and, as principal, I post them on Twitter each week. Since we have been out of school (physically) we have been creating Positive Sign Thursday videos. I have been posting these videos on Twitter as well. This week's Positive Sign video is a bit more special with a very special thank you to our emergency responders, healthcare providers, and essential workers. Students, families, and staff took their picture with this week's special message, sent them to us at LBMS, and we created a 6 minute video linked (PLEASE CLICK ON THE HEADLINE OF THE ARTICLE TO VIEW THE VIDEO). We received an outpouring of support on this. We are so grateful for our community, and we are infinitely grateful for all those who are risking their lives to keep all of us safe. Please share this video as you see appropriate with correctional officers and healthcare providers and tell them how much they are APPRECIATED on our behalf! Very best, Laura Friend Principal Luther Burbank Middle School 978-365-4558 Follow @LBMSPrincipal
